Distorted Expressions of Selfness

I’ve worked too long to let it go
My grip, the fit, the form, the flow,
Holding on and holding off for something slow

Words, a theme, some random tune,
Your smile, my frown, the cresent moon,
Hanging on and trying to find the way to go

Express yourself and walk away,
No other truth you’ll hear today
Get over it and head on down the road

A change, a shift, our paradigm
Is locked away, our backs are turned
I’m disappointed in the way that things have worked out

My blood, it flows, in red arrays
My heart, it goes, my head delays
I wish I had the instinct left to get about.

Express yourself and walk away,
It doesn’t matter what you say
Get over it and head on down the road

I don’t know why my altitude,
Is falling while I flap my mood
I guess I can’t know how to control my fate

A mask, too sharp, and mass produced,
A crash, a fire, a land reduced
We must agree on something more than mutual hate

Express yourself and walk away,
No better way to pass a day
get over out, and head on down the road

I’ve read some books, and seen some films
They don’t respond to my demands
I soak them up, they soak me every other time

These lessons learned are quick forgot
I love and lose what I have got
I wish I could make more sense of these lines of mine

I’m sorry babe if I’m not right,
I’m merely out of tune tonight,
Expect the best, you get the edge of things

Just save yourself and walk away
No other truth you’ll find today
Get over it, and move off up up the road
Move off up the road
Move off up the road.
